Single-ply membranes are strong, flexible, reinforced materials manufactured from either PVC (polyvinyl chloride) or FPO (flexible polyolefin) thermoplastics. Waterproof membranes are suitable for most types of roof design in new-build and refurbishment applications; they can either be mechanically fixed or fully adhered to an underlying deck, or loose laid and ballasted to the roof substrate. All permanent joints are hot-air fusion welded, eliminating the need for naked flames or hot bitumen.
Mechanically fastened systems are ideal for large, lightweight metal deck structures, and, for exposed roofing applications, offer the most cost-effective solutions with the fastest installation speed.
Adhered systems are generally preferred for public and residential buildings, where high aesthetic appearance, freedom of design and suitability for complex roof shapes are priorities. In particular, adhered systems allow easy refurbishment of existing bitumen roofs and are suitable for all types of renovation and repair projects.
